Moto X set for 1 August unveiling
Motorola is set to unveil its long-waited Moto X handset at an event in New York City on 1 August, its first major smartphone launch since it was bought by Google.
Details about the handset have been extensively leaked, with the device set to be a mid-tier handset, reportedly carrying a 1.7Ghz dual-core processor and 4.7 inch screen. Google has been keen to emphasise the features the phone will carry. CEO Larry Page has previously spoken of the importance of context sensitive features, a long battery life and waterproof devices.
Google will be keen the handset is a hit as Motorola has been a source of losses since it was purchased last year in a $12.5bn deal. Last week, Google received its handset manufacturing arm had more than quadrupled its losses to $218m, for the three months to the end of June.
