High Street round up
In the Christmas run up, it’s all about prepay. This weekend looks to be crucial for retailers, as end of the month pay cheques roll in and people hit the shops in search of gifts.

Carphone Warehouse is cutting prices on its top prepay handsets. It’s slashed the price of the Motorola V3 by £15, advertising it at £49.95. It’s also knocked £10 off the Motorola L6, selling it at £34.95 on Orange. Plus there is a new additon to the Motorola prepay stable, with the budget C261 handset offered with Vodafone airtime at £29.95. The Cath Kidston range is still being promoted heavily, coupled with £35 worth of airtime on Virgin Mobile.

Phones 4u is offering a slightly more competitive deal on the Motorola L6, pushing it at £39.95 but with £10 worth of airtime bundled in. Even cheaper is the Nokia 2652, offered at £29.95 with Orange airtime.

The network stores are keeping up. Vodafone is running a prepay deal that lets purchasers of any handset get a free games, music or sports package worth £25. Downloadable treats include SimCity, content from Madonna or The Streets and the latest sports entertainment. At the top end of the range the Motorola KRZR or Sony Ericsson K800i are offered at £250 and at the other end of the scale several Sagem handsets are on offer for around £50.

Things are all white at Orange, It’s pushing the Sony Ericssoon W810i in white at £159.99 with £20 of airtime thrown in, as well as a white Nokia 6070 for £49.99 with free evening calls for two years to other Orange numbers. It's also pushing the Samsung in its exclusive pink variant at £89.99 with £10 of airtime.

T-Mobile is jumping on the pink bandwagon with the Nokia 2310, offering a web exclusive deal of £34.99. In stores its pushing the new Nokia 5300 music phone with a festive red trim at £129.99.

O2 is offering the Motorola W220 at £49.99 with free weekend calls, as well as the Ice handset at £69.99 with £10 worth of airtime and a free Bluetooth headset bundled in. It’s also slashed its prepay price on the E370 in red by £30, offering it at £129.99.

Virgin Mobile is meanwhile doing a good deal on its exclusive pink Lobster 575, at £79.99 with £50 worth of airtime bundled in. It’s doing the same deal on the black Lobster 544, and a competitive deal on the Motorola PEBL in pink, with £50 thrown in at £89.99.
