HTC launching Desire 500 device

HTC has continued to expand its range of handsets with the addition of the ‘mid-range’ Desire 500 weeks after revealing the One Mini.

Earmarked for release later this month, the device will be coming to Britain, although HTC could not confirm a UK release date. The Desire incorporates some of the features that earned the manufacturer’s flagship ‘One’ handset plaudits, such as the innovative BlinkFeed home screen. It also accommodates an eight-megapixel camera with ImageChip and HD video, with a 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera, while the 4.3-inch display size is identical to that of the Mini. With a ‘powerful’ 1.2GHz quad-core processor, HTC describe it as a handset ‘designed for those who demand a superior mobile experience at an affordable price’.

HTC CEO Peter Chou said: ‘The Desire range has become renowned for bringing a premium mobile experience to the mass market. This particular model, the Desire 500, is no different. It is perfect for people who are always-on-the-go, it enables powerful multitasking and live-streaming of important and interesting information, and it boasts an excellent camera and that bring your important moments to life.’
