Samsung is targeting the younger market by launching a child-friendly tablet device this autumn.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids will come preloaded with educational, entertainment and e-book apps, as well as other top ranked applications. Parents will remain in control of the apps their children use via the Application Manager. They can also dictate the amount of time children spend on the device with the Time Management feature, allowing them to set specific periods of use and passcodes to lock the tablet during unallocated times. The tablet, which has a seven inch screen, will have a 1.2GHZ dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, a 3MP front-facing camera and a 1.3MP rear-facing camera.
The Galaxy Tab 3 Kids will be released on the Korean market in early September, with worldwide availability due to follow shortly afterwards. To compliment the device, parents can also purchase cases, stands and an ‘easy-to-grip C Pen’.
JK Shin, CEO and head of IT and mobile communications at Samsung Electronics, said: ‘It’s no secret that kids are using technology more than ever before. We saw an opportunity to create a device just for kids that provides them with an intuitive, fun and kid-friendly user experience filled with rich, interactive and educational content that parents will love.’
