HTC will add to its growing handset portfolio after announcing two new smartphones for its Desire family.
The Desire 601 and the Desire 300 will be released in selected markets from October, although it is unclear whether they will come to the UK.
The mid-range 601 shares similar characteristics to the flagship HTC One, with BlinkFeed, Zoe and BoomSound capabilities. The device is described by the Taiwanese manufacturer as the ‘most advanced mid-range smartphone on the market’. It has a 4.5 inch qHD screen, a 5MP camera and Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 1.4GHz dual-core processor
The Desire 300 comes is an entry level device, but boasts a 1GHz dual-core processor, 4.3 inch laminated display. It incorporates HTC’s BlinkFeed hompage layout.
The two new devices follow the announcement of the HTC Desire 500 and HTC One Mini, which goes on sale in September.
HTC CEO, Peter Chou, said HTC was: ‘changing the way people view the mid-range and entry-level market but setting the bar even higher when it comes to our premium devices and capabilities.’
‘We are committed to offering the most innovative portfolio of products on the market. Our Desire family has become synonymous with affordable quality. Offering some of the most advanced capabilities of any smartphone, these phones truly represent premium quality in a more affordable price bracket.’
HTC also revealed ‘Vivid Blue’ incarnations of the HTC One and One Mini, and the HTC BoomBass, a Bluetooth enabled subwoofer. All will be available from Q4 2013.
