HTC revenue tumbles again in August

HTC’s financial woes continue as its revenue in August plummeted again.
Unaudited consolidated revenue of the Taiwanese manufacturer shows a 16.28% month-on-month dip between July and August 2013, while income has deteriorated year-on-year by 45.18% since August 2012. Revenue has fallen consistently since May this year, and in July the ailing company posted an 86.5% nosedive in operating profit for the preceding 12 months.
The news adds to a difficult year for the company. As well as suffering financially, boardroom uncertainty has engulfed HTC as a number of high profile executives have departed, including former UK head, Phil Roberson, who quit earlier this year.
HTC recently pumped $1bn into its Robert Downey Jr advertising campaign in an attempt to compete with smartphone heavyweights Samsung and Apple in what is being seen as ‘the last throw of the dice’. The manufacturer has also expanded its handset portfolio with additions to its One and Desire range.
