mobile batteries charged by USB
USB-charged mobile batteries will be available early next year, according to a new battery company. Moixa Energy, which currently sells USB-charged AA batteries, is developing a range of mobile batteries that can be charged directly from a PC's USB slot.
'We're going to do a full range of formats, the AA is on sale today,' said Moixa Energy director Simon Daniel. 'We're hoping to have cellphone versions early in the New Year.'
No deals have been finalised, but the company is likely to target the biggest manufacturers. Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and Samsung-compatible batteries are likely early formats. The batteries include a USB connection and can be charged from a PC or laptop without the need for a transformer or charging device.
