HTC cuts jobs in American business
HTC's struggles have continued with the troubled Taiwanese manufacturer cutting 20% of its US workforce.
The cuts amount to 30 staff across numerous departments and were defended by the company as a means 'to streamline and optimize our organisation and improve efficiencies after several years of aggressive growth'. In a statement to The Verge, which originally broke the story, the manufacturer said it continues to hire in the United States in key areas.
In a leaked email, Jason McKenzie, said the job cuts were 'part of a broader plan to simplify our organization, sharpen our teams focus, improve our speed in decision-making, and drive greater empowerment through our team, while reducing our overall cost structure'.
The manufacturer has attempted to turn around slumping profits with its highest profile ad campaign to date, featuring Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr.
