BBM app gets more than 10 million downloads in first 24 hours
BlackBerry has revealed more than 10 million of its BBM app was downloaded by Apple and Android users in its first day.
The app went live after a troubled launch in more than 75 countries yesterday. The free app also consumers to message, share files and chat in groups. BlackBerry is hoping to launch BBM voice and video calls to Android and Apple customers in the near future.
Andrew Bocking, executive vice-president for BBM at BlackBerry, said: 'This has been an incredible launch for BBM across Android and iPhone devices. The mobile messaging market is full of opportunity for BBM. We intend to be the leading private social network for everyone who needs the immediate communication and collaboration of instant messaging combined with the privacy, control and reliability delivered through BBM.'
