Samsung will launch the Galaxy Tab 3 Kids in time for Christmas in an attempt to tap into the children's market.
The device will be available in shops from 8 November in Toys 'R' Us, Argos, Shop Direct, Dixons, JLP, Asda and the Samsung Experience store, although it can be purchased online from the 1 November. The tablet comes with educational apps, e-books and games pre-installed, and boasts a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 1GB RAM, as well as a 3MP camera and 8GB or internal memory.
The Tab 3 Kids was designed to give parents control over apps and content their children use and view. The Samsung Application Manager lets parents select apps their children can access, while a time management feature enables parents to lock the tablet when they do not want it in use.
Samsung's vice-president of IT and mobile divison UK and Ireland, Simon Stanford, said: ‘We’re seeing technology become ever more popular with children, and wanted to create a tablet that provides kids with interactive and educational content with the added benefit of giving parents control over their children’s tab use. Parents played a huge part in the design process, and as a result the Galaxy Tab 3 Kids is a unique product that is both a fun and exciting piece of technology for kids to use and a device that parents can trust.’
