Three to cease trading with Carphone Warehouse
Three has said it will stop selling through high street retailer Carphone Warehouse from next month.
The UK's fourth largest network will focus on its own direct channels after divorcing with Phones 4u in a similar fashion in April 2012. Following that move, Three CEO David Dyson revealed 89% of its customer base came from direct channels. The operator has emphasised the control it has over its retail estate as one of the key reasons it has built share in recent yeats. The operator launched a major retail store upgrade last July across its whole estate, which boasts almost 300 stores, with plans to extend to 400 by 2015.
From 4 December, the two companies will officially cut ties in every capacity, including retail stores and online sales. The operator confirmed the news in a short statement after an earlier report in The Times. A Three spokesman said: ‘Three will end its trading relationship with Carphone Warehouse later this year.’
