Samsung to produce SCH-V920 'World Phone'
Samsung is to release a phone that allows automatic roaming all over the world, including Japan.
The 'World Phone', which it will make for Korean based operator SK Telecom, will support CDMA technology used in Korea, GSM technology used in Europe, and JCDMA used in Japan. It will be the first phone to support all three technology types.
The handset, branded the SCH-V920, is so far planned only to launch in Asia. It is expected to become an essential for businessmen who travel frequently to Japan and Europe.
It will be a slider phone and feature a 1.3 mega pixel camera, MP3 player and Bluetooth capability. It will also feature an 'Anycall Translator' function, allowing translation of simple expressions in various situations into English, Japanese and Chinese in airports, hotels and stores.
