O2 launches Speed to Refresh
O2 customers will be able to upgrade quicker, with the operator offering 25% discount off their remaining line rental costs if they want to trade up.
Speed to Refresh launched today and means existing customers can jump onto O2's Refresh contract, which allows them to upgrade at any time. The operator is encouraging consumers to trade their existing handsets in using O2 Recycle to cut down the cost of upgrade.
David Johnson, general manager for devices at O2, said: 'With technology advancing by the day it is perhaps little surprise that the initial euphoria of owning a new device wears off faster than ever. However, it is interesting to see that technology is now giving the fashion world a run for its money – with the nation waiting on the new season must-haves. That’s why we’ve created Speed to O2 Refresh – it’s now even easier and more affordable for phone lovers to have the latest kit.'
The operator revealed research that found it takes four months on average for the novelty of a new smartphone to wear off. The research said 60% of Britons would change their device, even if their existing smartphone was working well.
