Apple strikes deal with China Mobile

Apple has made its largest strides into the Chinese mobile market by securing a deal with China Mobile.

The operator is owned by the state and has more than 750 million subscribers, making it the largest network in the world. Apple's newest iPhone incarnations, the 5s and 5c, will be available to customers from 17 January. The American manufacturer will now be able to compete with Samsung and Huawei in the world's biggest smartphone market. Analysts forecast sales of between 10 to 25 million over the next 12 months.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said: ‘Apple has enormous respect for China Mobile and we are excited to begin working together. China is an extremely important market for Apple and our partnership with China Mobile presents us the opportunity to bring iPhone to the customers of the world's largest network.’
