Carphone Warehouse and Samsung have teamed up to launch a chain of new concept stores across Europe.
The Korean manufacturer signed a 'preferred partner' agreement with the retailer to operate more than 60 stand-alone stores. Mobile understands the companies are targeting March or April to begin the UK rollout. Ireland, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Sweden and the Netherlands make up the seven markets where the stores will have a presence, with rollout expected in the next three months.
Although no details have been confirmed, Mobile understands around a third of the 60 stores will be in the UK, which will be a combination of existing Carphone Warehouse stores and new locations. It's likely Samsung has its eye on areas of high retail footfall to compete with stand-alone Apple stores.
Carphone Warehouse CEO, Andrew Harrison, said: ‘We are delighted to have been chosen as Samsung’s preferred European partner for their store roll-out. Our Connected World Services business will combine Carphone Warehouse’s retailing expertise and systems with one of the world’s biggest brands and will help us make even more lives better through connected technology.’
