BlackBerry boss blasts 'ill-conceived' T-Mobile marketing promotion

BlackBerry CEO John Chen has hit out at T-Mobile US as customers in America were sent emails from the operator suggesting a switch to the iPhone 5s.

The email was headlined 'great offer for BlackBerry customers' accompanied by a deal suggestion with the Apple device on one of its 4G tariffs. According to Reuters, the ploy sparked a backlash from loyal customers of the Canadian manufacturer, prompting T-Mobile CEO John Legere to respond via Twitter.

In his blog, John Chen, who replaced Thorsten Heins last November, said the message was a 'clearly inappropriate and ill-conceived marketing promotion', and added: 'Your partnership with our brand is appreciated by all of us at BlackBerry, and draws a sharp contrast with the behaviour of our longtime business partner.'
