MWC 2014: HTC One scoops Best Smartphone Award

HTC’s flagship device, the HTC One, has scooped the Best Smartphone award at the 19th Annual Global Mobile Awards at Mobile World Congress.

The Awards, held at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona today (25 February), saw the HTC One voted for by a panel of more than 175 independent industry experts.

Other winners at the awards ceremony, which was presented by writer and comedian James Corden, included the Nokia Lumia 520 as best low cost smartphone while LG won the accolade of most innovative manufacturer of the year. Meanwhile Apple won the best tablet award for its iPad Air.

John Hoffman, CEO, GSMA said: ‘Now in the 19th year, the Global Mobile Awards once again showcase the outstanding level of innovation and creative products and services being developed across a diverse and growing industry.

‘With more than 680 high-calibre entries this year, the competition was stronger than ever and it is a significant achievement to have been honoured today.’
