Vodafone links up with Ericsson in network expansion deal

Vodafone has inked a network expansion deal with Ericsson as the operator rolls out ‘aggressive growth plans’ for coverage and capacity.

The five-year deal is part of Vodafone’s initial phase of Project Spring, the £7bn investment programme in networks and services over the next two years. The contract involves upgrading and expansion of the operator’s 2G and 3G networks, alongside the build-out of 4G LTE.

Ericsson pledged that ‘its service professionals will transform the Vodafone network into a market-leading high performance network’ while products such as its full RBS 6000 portfolio and Antenna Integrated Radio come as part of the deal.

Ericsson CEO Hans Vestberg (pictured) said: ‘We have been a trusted partner of Vodafone for 30 years and we are delighted to continue and expand our relationship with this latest award under Project Spring.’
