giffgaff to launch 4G service in April

O2 MVNO giffgaff will launch its own 4G service in early April 2014.

giffgaff customers living in areas of O2 4G service will be able to use the ultrafast network as long as they have a 4G compatible handset. Existing customers will be able to get 4G tariffs from £10 per month for 1GB of data, or £12 per month for 2GB.

O2's network now covers 32% of the population in 16 cities and 160 towns. Customers who want to use the service will have to swap their Sim card for a 4G compatible unit. giffgaff is aiming for a quarter of all customers to be using its 4G service by the end of the year.
