Sony 'not expecting' to meet high Z2 demand in April
Sony has cast doubt over the launch of its new flagship Z2 smartphone after revealing that it doesn’t expect to meet ‘high demand’.
A spokesperson for the manufacturer told Mobile: ‘Xperia Z2 will be available in the UK during April and we are expecting to deliver to all consumers who have placed a pre-order through our key partners. We are working tirelessly to maximise stock levels in April but currently we do not expect to meet the high demand across all our sales channels. Please stay tuned for further information and confirmed retail availability.’
The device was one of the most talked about handsets after its unveiling at Mobile World Congress last month. It was revealed with a suite of new products launched by the Japanese firm which included the Xperia Z2 Tab, the Xperia M2 and its wearbable SmartBand SWR10.
Operators O2, EE, Vodafone and Three have all confirmed they will be stocking the Z2, as well as retailer giants Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4u. Vodafone is currently running an initiative that will see the first 3,000 pre-ordering customers of the device win a new BRAVIA television.
