Carphone Warehouse: HTC M8 launch sales 'above expectations'

Carphone Warehouse has revealed 'above expectation' sales figures from the HTC One (M8) launch day.

The retailer stocked and sold the new flagship straight from its 25 March launch in six stores across London. Stores in Westfield Stratford, Westfield White City, Oxford Circus, Centrepoint and Tottenham Court Road held small events with HTC brand ambassadors, and the response has already been positive.

A Carphone Warehouse spokesperson told Mobile: ‘We started selling the new HTC One (M8) in six London stores shortly after the announcement was made by HTC. We also held small events at these stores with HTC brand ambassadors on hand to showcase the phone and it’s features. There was already some demand from customers before the announcement with each of the stores reporting having had quite a few phone calls from customers eager to hear when they would be able to buy it. We aren’t able to share sales numbers but I can confirm that figures were above our expectations and very healthy for the six stores.

‘All of our store colleagues were very excited to be seeing the phone for the first time and being able to sell it so quickly after announcement and we think that this approach from HTC will really help them make the most of the momentum they have built up from last year. There is also a lot of anticipation from customers keen to get their hands on the dot matrix case which should be arriving in the next few weeks. From first thing this morning the device is also available online and in the remainder of our stores so we expect to see the strong sales continue.’
