EE reveals plans to release new smartphones as Kestrel launches

EE has suggested that it will release more own-branded smartphones after launching its Kestrel device yesterday (1 May).

The Kestrel was announced in late March, and was created to give customers a 4G option at a competitive price. The handset costs £99.99 on prepay and free from £13.99 on a 4G contract.

An EE spokesperson told Mobile: ‘This device is the first in EE’s ODM story. Consumers trust our brand and it gives us access to a new market. We will be announcing more handsets of varying spec in due course.’

The Android-powered device comes with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and a 4.5-inch qhd screen, while CAT 4 capabilities optimise 4G usage.

EE will promote the Kestrel across print and digital advertising operations.
