Phones 4u ‘will continue to add value to Dixons’ says CEO

Phones 4U has responded to what it calls ‘speculation’ that it could pull out of Dixons Retail early on account of the merger with Carphone Warehouse.

David Kassler (pictured), CEO at Phones 4u told Mobile: ‘Despite speculation to the contrary we can confirm, as per our original statement on the merger, that we will continue to add value and mobile expertise in our current Dixons Retail outlets throughout the remainder of our contract, which has a year left to run.’

The contract in question is the 2010 deal to open concession stories in a number of Currys and PC World outlets. The mobile retailer said that stores will continue to run as normal until the contract has ended.

Phones 4u made no comment on the claim that ‘a fundamental change’ in its relationship with Dixons gives the mobile retailer the right to terminate the agreement.

Kessler had previously expressed disappointment with the merger and indicated that Phones 4u explore new concession opportunities with other retailers.
