Retailers and operators are rolling out the red carpet for LG's flagship device, the LG G3.
The smartphone is set to hit shelves in the UK on 1 July and so far O2, Three, Carphone Warehouse and online retailer Clove have all confirmed they will range the device. EE and Vodafone have yet to confirm.
The G3 comes with a metallic finish and stylish curves. It has a 5.5 inch QHD display, giving four times the detail of HD. The camera comes with 13-megapixel sensors, LED flashes and optical image stabilisation and can focus in less than the time it takes to blink, at 300 milliseconds. It is powered by a 2.5Ghz Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor and has a removable back cover, battery and a memory card slot that can take cards up to 128GB in size.
O2 confirmed it will range the smartphone ‘from early July', whilst Clove is open for pre-orders of the phone and has posted the 16GB black and gold Sim-free versions of the handset for £499, undercutting rivals’ similar high range smartphones by some way. It is expected to be available on contract from retailers free from £38 a month.
A Carphone Warehouse spokesman said consumers could pre-order the phone from June and added: ‘Fans of LG’s G series are typically more tech savvy than the average customer and the G3 certainly doesn’t disappoint in terms of high end specifications.
‘LG has somehow managed to cram an incredible 5.5” Quad HD screen, super-fast processor and top spec camera into one relatively lightweight handset with impressive and long lasting battery power. We’re predicting that this will be the geek chic device of 2014 that customers will want to snap up.’
