Three has opened up another front in its war against roaming charges this week with the expansion of its Feel at Home service to another five countries, including France.
The service, which allows Three customers to browse the internet and call and text home at no extra charge whilst abroad, is now available in 16 countries.
Three has expanded Feel at Home to France, Switzerland, Israel, Finland and Norway. The five new additions join the US, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Macau, Australia, Italy, Austria, Hong Kong, Sweden, Denmark and Republic of Ireland, where the service has been available since 2013.
Dave Dyson, CEO at Three (pictured), said: ‘Roaming charges are a rip-off and Three is tackling the issue head-on. We haven’t just reduced charges; we’ve now scrapped them in 16 destinations, making it fairer, easier and more enjoyable to use your phone abroad.’
He added: ‘The addition of five more countries, including France, to Feel At Home is another big step and one that marks our determination to eliminate roaming rates full-stop. I want customers to stay connected when they’re overseas without the fear of a nasty bill when they return.”
Feel At Home activates automatically when users arrive in any of the 16 countries on the scheme. Users who go out of bundle will still qualify forreduced roaming rates. The service applies to customers on pay monthly, Pay-As-You-Go, SIM-only and those using mobile broadband so long as they stay within the limits of their current Three price plan allowance and international roaming is activated.
However all calls and texts to non-UK numbers will be charged at standard roaming rates and tethering is not included, whilst PAYG customers will need an add on.
