EE To drop Page 3 viewing option

Mobile network operator EE has promised to remove a link to view images of Page 3 girls from its old SIM cards.

The move following Siobhan Warrington’s complaints regarding her 11-year-old’s phone having the "Page 3 Girls" link in a menu. The firm moved to launch an immediate review of the situation. While the link did not work, EE said it would remove it from the Fun and Games menu.

Warrington had purchased a Samsung E1270 handset. She then inserted a SIM card from EE-owned T-Mobile. On discovering the "Page 3 Girls" link, she took to Twitter to complain about the matter. EE quickly responded by posting, "We've kicked off a urgent review to get this removed from the relevant SIMs."

When contacted by Mobile, a spokeperson for EE said the company was “very sorry” for any offence caused. “This service was discontinued some time ago, but the menu option still appears on a small number of very old SIM cards.”

An urgent review is now underway.
