Apple to begin production of big iPhones
Apple’s suppliers in China are believed to be about to start production of its largest iPhones ever. According to sources close to the plans, the technology giant is working on two bigger devices, which may be available for shipping to retailers in the autumn.
One model is understood to have a 4.7-inch display while a 5.5-inch version is also being produced in Apple's manufacturing plants. Rounder and slimmer than previous models, sources also said that production of the 5.5-inch smartphone is more complicated than the 4.7-inch option.
Rival mobile phone manufacturers such as Samsung and HTC have previously launched handsets with displays up to 5.7 inches.
Apple’s iPhone accounts for more than 50% of the company’s revenue. The device generated $91 billion in revenue in 2013.
