Tech Data Mobile is tipped to win a major distribution deal with Nokia, say sources.
If the deal goes ahead it will be a major coup for Tech Data Mobile, with the distributor helping Nokia drive sales of its Lumia devices via the IT channels, sources claim.
Nokia is on an aggressive drive to capture the UK's b2b market, recently pledging to double its 18% in 12 months.
If Nokia does appoint Tech Data Mobile, it will be the first appointment of a distributor since the manufacturer broke with convention in 2011, ditching incumbent mobile distributors Data Select and 20:20 Mobile in favour of Micro-P (now Exertis Micro-P) and Ingram Micro, ahead of its launch of its first Lumia smartphone the Lumia 800.
Exertis Micro-P's distribution deal covers retail and mobile whilst Ingram Micro's covers IT.
Nokia denied it had a deal with Tech Data Mobile.
