Annie Brooks, Virgin Media head of mobile product and commercial, is replacing Jamie Heywood as director of mobile at the company.
Heywood will leave Virgin Media later this month. A spokesman said Heywood had 'decided to seek other opportunities outside the company.'
Brooks joined Virgin Mobile ahead of its launch in 1999 as channel development manager. She has been promoted successively over the past 15 years. Previous roles include head of pay monthly and general manager mobile as Virgin Mobile. She has been the company’s head of mobile product and commercial for the past 15 months. Prior to joining Virgin Mobile, Brooks was with Cable & Wireless working in their corporate contract mobile business.
Dana Strong, CEO of Virgin Media, said: ‘Annie has a wealth of knowledge about our mobile operations and the industry so I am really pleased we are able to make this promotion. Mobile is a key part of our growth. Around one million families across the country already benefit from having all four services from Virgin Media and with our new Big Bundles, which include the UK’s best value SIMs, we are putting mobile at the centre of our unrivalled products and services.’
Brooks said: ‘I am proud to have been a part of Virgin Mobile from the start and as we have grown from strength to strength. We are now one of the fastest growing contract mobile businesses in the country, with the UK’s most popular SIM Only tariff of the year and recently surpassing two million contract customers for the first time. As the first provider of all four broadband, TV, mobile and home phone services, Virgin Media has made a real impact on the market and I look forward to building on this.’
