Skrill Group has appointed David Sear as group chief commercial officer. Sear joins Skrill Group from Weve, the joint venture between UK mobile network operators, EE, Telefonica UK (O2) and Vodafone UK, where he was CEO of the company.
The newly-created position will oversee all commercial operations across the group, including Skrill, paysafecard and payolution. Sear will take up the new role in August at its headquarters in London. He previously held senior management positions with Travelex, VocaLink and WorldPay.
Commenting on the new appointment, Siegfried Heimgaertner, chief executive of Skrill Group, said, 'I look forward to working with David to reinforce Skrill Group’s position as a provider of intelligent online payment solutions for businesses and individuals.'
He said the payments industry is going through a period of rapid change, creating an opportunity for payment providers to ‘evolve and innovate’ in order to meet shifting customer needs.
David Sear said, ‘I am looking forward to working with the Skrill Group management to deliver growth and value to the organisation, and create new opportunities for businesses and individuals in the ever-evolving payments sector.’
He said the company is well positioned to benefit from the developing landscape of online payments.
