Nokia X range gets software update

Software giant Microsoft has rolled out a new software update for its Android Nokia X line. The update includes the multitasking functionality from the Nokia X2 range.

The update enables users to switch and close running apps easily and can be triggered by tapping on the App Switcher icon.

Designed for Nokia X, Nokia X+ and Nokia XL lines, it is now available on an over-the-air (OTA) upgrade. The technology firm recommends downloading the update using a Wi-Fi connection.

Microsoft has also preloaded the cloud-based services of OneDrive, OneNote and Outlook.com. The app can sync up to 500 notes at a time. The email client enables push notifications and syncing of calendar entries and contacts.

The Nokia Store can also seen some changes with it now being easier for users to find apps and games. A new widget is available for discovering offers, which can be downloaded with a single tap.
 
Microsoft recently said it was killing off its Nokia X smartphones.
