HTC predicts falling revenue for its third quarter

Taiwanese mobile phone manufacturer HTC predicts that revenue in its third quarter is likely to fall between T$42-T$47bn. The company reported revenue of T$47.05bn in the same period last year. HTC released its flagship One M8 phone in March with demand now settling for the smartphone. The firm's rival Apple is expected to release a new large-screen iPhone this autumn.

HTC said gross profit margin is expected to be in the range of 22.3-23% for the July-September period, compared to 22.2% in its second quarter.

The smartphone maker reported a revenue decline of 7.9% for its second quarter to NT$65.1bn. Gross margin and operating margin were 22.2% and 3.7%, respectively, for the April-June period while net profit after tax was NT$2.3bn.

HTC's quarterly investor conference takes place today.
