Joanna Shields OBE, the former CEO of Tech City UK, is set to join the government's digital taskforce. In the unpaid position, she will advise Cameron on the digital economy, start-ups and innovation in infrastrasture. The news was confirmed to Tech City News earlier this week.
Shields is currently the executive chairman of Tech City UK, having resigned from her CEO position in February. She was replaced in the role by Gerard Grech, who headed the marketing division at Blackberry previously.
Shields previously held technology roles at Facebook, Bebo and Google.
She was awarded an OBE in the 2014 New Year's Honours List for her digital-related work in the UK.
Shields will be joined on the digital taskforce by Francis Maude MP and digital economy minister Ed Vaisey.
