Vodafone has launched its latest smartphone, the 4G-enabled Smart 4 Power handset.

The device offers LTE support with it being powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor. It is MediaTek's first LTE system on a chip to be made commercially available in the UK with this new smartphone, which allows for superfast 4G download speeds.

The handset has a 5-inch screen with a 960 x 540 resolution. Running on Android 4.4 Kitkat, the mobile phone comes with 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory and 32GB of expandable memory with its microSD card slot. The 5 megapixel camera is located at the back of the smartphone.

The Smart 4 Power is available now in Vodafone stores, costing £175 with Vodafone’s Pay or £26.50 on Vodafone's Red 4G monthly plan.

Commenting on the new chip, Siegmund Redl, VP and general manager of corporate marketing, MediaTek Europe, said: 'We are excited to see MediaTek's first commercially available LTE solution in Europe. This shows our commitment to enabling consumers to have more choice and accessibility when it comes to high-performing LTE technology."

He added: 'We believe in developing inclusive, high-performing products that provide limitless opportunities for consumers to realise their potential to be an Everyday Genius.'
