Kazam launch UK market ‘catalyst’ following Euro success
British manufacturer Kazam is targeting the UK with the launch of its flagship smartphone, the Kazam Tornado 348, backed by the company’s biggest marketing campaign yet.
Dubbed the thinnest smartphone in Europe the 5.15mm Tornado 348 runs on Android KitKat and comes with an aluminium-magnesium alloy body, a 4.8 inch AMOLED Gorilla Glass screen, an 8 MP main camera and a 5MP front facing camera. Kazam has also forged a deal with MediaTek which sees the phone powered by the Mediatek True8Core processor. The device also includes one year screen protection and Kazam’s Rescue service.
The phone will launch in mid-November in the UK across a number of online retailers and will sell for around £249.
The company is hoping the Tornado 364 smartphone will help it carve out a share of the UK market after a strong performance in Europe last year.
Speaking to Mobile Kazam chief marketing officer James Atkins said: ‘We have had significant
success in Europe, across Spain, Poland and Germany. Our Trooper 25.0 smartphone is the top seller among Spanish operators.
‘We believe the Tornado 348 will act as a catalyst to kick start the brand in the UK, off the back of our success in Europe. This device answers all the sceptics questions and gives us the artillery to go out there and really make a difference.’
The launch will be backed by Kazam’s biggest ever marketing campaign, Atkins added..
‘This is our first ever marketing campaign and marks the growing awareness around our phones. In
addition to digital marketing we will also kick off a lot of social media marketing activity. So from November onwards Kazam will have a much more visible presence which will coincide with a major rebranding exercise.’
Atkins added: ‘Our brand will evolve into a more colourful, engaging, life style-focused image and will coincide with the launch of our new e-commerce store, where consumers will be able to buy all of our phones.’
Kazam is already registering strong early interest in the Tornado 348. ‘This device is our most pre-ordered device yet with a significant number of orders across Europe,’ Atkins said, adding that Kazam’s strategy is to stand out from other recent entrants into the market.
‘Everyone is expecting another ‘me too’ device and that is where we are different. There are a lot of new brands offering cheaper versions of established brands but we try to be innovative and bring consumers something different,’ he said.
