EE is set to buy Phones 4u’s MVNO Life Mobile, as tipped by Mobile last month.
The operator’s MVNO director Jason Bellman visited Life Mobile's staff at the MVNOs headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent today (14 October) to announce the deal. Bellman reassured staff it would be ‘business as usual’ at the MVNO which offers cut price deals to around 85,000 connections.
The deal sees EE take over the MVNO’s contact centre contract and around ten administration staff. No redundancies are expected, sources said.
The MVNO was also stalked by Argos and TalkTalk, sources said, but EE was always considered the strongest contender since it was Phones 4u’s MVNO partner.
One source added that the deal, valued at around £5m, was delayed by protracted wrangling on cost.
Life Mobile was launched in March 2013 and rolled out across its entire store portfolio and all 159 Phones 4u concessions in Currys/PC World megastores.
