iPad launch: O2, EE and Three to sell the ‘soft SIM’ device

Following Apple’s announcement of two new tablets; the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3, O2, EE and Three have all announced that they will be stocking the devices. Significantly for mobile networks the iPad Air 2 features a so-called ‘soft SIM’; a software based SIM card which removes the need to have a physical SIM and allows users to sign up directly for data packages with participating networks, currently the only participating network in the UK is EE.

O2, EE and Three all said that it would be offering iPad Air 2 with Wi-Fi and Cellular and iPad mini 3 with Wi-Fi and Cellular later in October.
