250,000 now on i-mode
O2 has signed around 250,000 i-Mode users since it launched the service six months ago.
The operator said customers are flocked to eBay and the Kelkoo price-comparison site. It added that i-Mode users use twice as much data per month as customers do on comparable WAP services.
Chat sites and sports sites are big draws, but only 25% of subscribers use i-Mode for e-mail. In contrast, convential internet e-mail is so popular that it is often described as the internet's 'killer application.'
Claiming that i-Mode usage patterns resemble the conventional internet, O2 said it is examining how to add RSS feeds and instant messaging to the service.
