Amazon.co.uk is pushing into the mobile arena in the UK, inking a deal with O2 which will see it sell a range of contract phones including its own Amazon Fire Phone via its online store in the UK.
The deal will see Amazon launch a major push to sell its Fire phone to UK consumers in the holiday season. The device has only been availableon contract via O2 stores in the UK since its launch last month and has experienced a slow start.
The online retail giant will sell pay monthly mobile phone deals from its online store for the first time in the UK. Customers can buy a range of the latest smartphones on pay monthly tariffs with some phones requiring no upfront fee. Tariffs start from £13 a month.
More than 90 phones are available for pay monthly purchase, including Amazon's recently launched Fire phone, with plans offered exclusively through launch partner O2. Amazon.co.uk is also offering introductory deals to customers beginning new pay monthly contracts and customers looking to upgrade, for a limited period.
The deals include HTC One M8 free on a £28 per month tariff, with unlimited minutes and texts and 1GB of data; the Huawei P7, free upfront on a £20 per month tariff, with 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 300MB of data; the Nokia Lumia 735, free upfront on a £15 per month tariff, with 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 300MB of data.
The Amazon’s Fire phone is also available on contract from Amazon.co.uk for the first time, starting at £28 per month with no upfront fee for the 32GB model,with unlimited minutes and texts and 1GB of data. Other offers on the Fire phone include £33 per month tariff with no charge for the phone, with unlimited minutes and texts and 2GB of data on the 32GB mode and £39.99 upfront on a £23 per month tariff with 500 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data on the 32GB model.
Fire comes with Dynamic Perspective and Firefly, two technologies that allow users to see and interact with the world through a new form of lens. Customers also get free unlimited cloud storage for photos taken on Fire and live video tech support with Mayday, with a full year of Amazon Prime membership included. The offer is open until 31 December 2014.Fire is available with 32GB or 64GB storage.

Customers can still purchase a new handset without a pay monthly contract. Amazon.co.uk offers around 480 models, including the Sony Xperia Z3, Motorola Moto G 4G, Blackberry Passport and HTC One M8.
