Cross selling mobile subscriptions to cable customers boosted Virgin Media’s mobile revenue by 10%, the company’s Q3 results have shown.
Total mobile subscribers grew by 69,000 year to date (YTD) which included 18,000 new customers in the third quarter.
The brand’s mobile growth has been concentrated in the postpaid space, with an increase in SIM-only contracts as a result of the company’s strategic focus on cross selling postpaid to its mobile customers. Postpaid subscribers have increased by 194,000 (YTD) and were up 53,000 for the third quarter.
An increase in the number of mobile subscribers contributed to a 7% improvement in average monthly revenue per mobile subscriber, including interconnect revenue, to £15.55.
Virgin reported that its quad play penetration had grown from 16.2% for the quarter in 2013 to 17% at the end of September 2014.
