Talk Talk switches MNVO from Vodafone to O2

Talk Talk has announced that it has switched its MVNO agreement from Vodafone to O2 (Telefonica UK).

The move comes as somewhat of a surprise as there were rumours as recently as last week suggesting that Vodafone was looking to buy Talk Talk.

The new multi-year agreement will see O2 give Talk Talk access to its 2G, 3G and 4G services in the UK.

Talk Talk said that its mobile base had grown strongly in the last two years, with 350,000 customers or 9.5% of its total base, taking mobile from the company as of 30th September 2014.

Dido Harding, CEO of TalkTalk said: ‘This is a significant development for TalkTalk, building on our success in mobile to date. We are ideally placed to benefit from the market shift to quad-play, with a sizeable and growing number of customers already choosing to take mobile from us.   We see real opportunities in both the near term and further out, to work with Telefónica UK to further accelerate our quad-play growth.’
