Mobile retailers target Black Friday sales push
UK mobile retailers are targeting Black Friday to kick start consumer retail spending in the run-up to Christmas. A number of the major UK retailers have confirmed to Mobile that they will be offering some major discounts to mark the date.
Carphone Warehouse is a firm believer in the event. Explaining the success it had previously seen, its CEO for UK and Ireland Graham Stapleton, said: ‘Last year, Black Friday represented our biggest weekend of online traffic and online trading. Black Friday marks the beginning of the first big shopping weekend of the shopping season, and this year Carphone Warehouse discounts will run from 8am on Friday morning to midnight on 2 December. Shoppers will be rushing to catch a bargain on the go and we're expecting more than 60% of traffic to be from smartphones or tablets.’
Vodafone said that it would be offering up to 50% on a huge range of pay as you go smartphones and monthly price plans, which would run until 1 December. EE, meanwhile, said that it would be giving 20% off any pay as you go phone under £150, 4G Wi-Fi products and all accessories in its online store.
