Selling price of smartphones to decrease: Santok Predictions 2015
Deborshi Sarkar, head of sales, Santok:
‘I think we will see a continued rise in wearable technology during 2015. I predict there will be new innovations in this sector but the main key to its success during the next year will be greater integration within the mobile ecosystem and wider adoption by consumers. Smart watches in particular will be firmly established in the market following the launch by Apple at the end of 2014. Early adopters already have a great interest in wearables but I think next year will see the appeal widen significantly. I also believe that mHealth growth will be fuelled by the uptake of GPS and sensors within wearable devices. 2015 will be a very exciting year for wearables and will take this area of the industry drastically up a gear.
‘Alongside wearables, I predict that the average selling price of a smartphone will decrease and this trend will continue throughout 2015. This will enable market entry for different players, including Karbonn Mobile, which is a brand Santok has introduced to the UK at the end of 2014. Android will take even more market share with the eagerly awaited Lollipop launch making Android the main OS for smartphones.’
