Monotype unveils 200 text types for mobiles
A new set of font types tailored for use on mobile phones has been developed.
Monotype, which supplies fonts to developers, wireless operators and handset manufacturers has come up with more than 200 fonts to add to the 13 it released in June. A selection are shown above.
The collection includes a user friendly version of complex East Asian text, which can be difficult to scale to small sizes.
'Fonts have the power to connect personally with the user… whether the mobile phone is targeted to sports enthusiasts, business professionals, teenagers or older adults', said Allan Haley, director of words and letters at Monotype Imaging.
The fonts were unveiled at the Symbian Smartphone show in London this week.
