Ebay believes 2015 will be a ‘landmark year’ for Britain’s SME’s investing in mobile.
Johnny Gabbai, head of mobile at eBay, said:‘The mobile shopping revolution is in full swing, with 2015 set to be a landmark year for Britain’s SMEs investing in apps and mobile optimised websites. The mobile industry has already recognised this direction of travel, with larger screens and ergonomic designs increasingly common. With the rollout of 4G we’ve seen mobile retail play an increasingly large role in the omni-channel mix, and this needs to be front of mind for the industry going forwards.’
Research of 307 small businesses from the online giant found that 1 in 4 online SMEs are planning on introducing a mobile optimised site or app in the next 12 months alone.
The survey found that by the end of this year, over half of all small businesses who currently have an online presence, will have developed a mobile strategy and optimised their mobile presence.
Of those who already had a mobile presence, 45 per cent had seen an increase in sales conversions as a result, with almost 1 in 10 seeing an increase by over 20%.
