Jobs are at risk at Carphone Warehouse Business, according to industry sources.
The company, which is the mobile b2b division of Dixons Carphone, has given staff notice that jobs are at risk, sources claim. Roles under threat are understood to include back office, administrative and sales jobs.
The proposed cuts are understood to be part of Dixons Carphone’s wider restructuring, following the merger of Dixons Retail and Carphone Warehouse last year. The company plans to deliver £80m of efficiency savings by 2016-17. The restructuring includes the removal of duplicate roles, which is expected to impact largely on back office staff.
One industry source said: ‘Carphone Warehouse Business staff have been put on notice that their jobs are at risk. There are some major changes going on there at the moment.’
Another source said: ‘Staff have been applying for other jobs as there is a lot of uncertainty there about the future.’
The move closely follows Carphone Warehouse Business’s decision to scrap its franchise programme earlier this year.
A spokeswoman for Dixons Carphone said: ‘As part of our on-going phased integration, we are assessing all aspects of the group to identify the best structure for our combined business. Integration is still underway and last week we began a consultation process with some of the employees in our support centres.
‘Overall, the merger will lead to a 2% net increase in jobs. We are committed to keeping our employees informed first and foremost, and will support them if they wish to apply for alternative roles within the business.’
