Sony extends Champions League partnership to include Sony Mobile

Sony has extended its UEFA Champions League sponsorship deal to include Sony Mobile as an official global partner.

While PlayStation have been a long running UEFA gaming partner, the new deal will see the sponsorship include Sony Mobile and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE). Jim Ryan, President and CEO of SCEE, described the deal as ‘a very natural fit’ for the Sony brand and audience.

Sony Mobile will look to take advantage of the brand coverage it will gain across Europe and stated that the global platform offered by UEFA gives Sony the opportunity to appeal to new customers. By using its smartphones, tablets and Smart Wear products, Sony Mobile states it will look to ‘engage with fans both in the stadium and digital arena’.

Dennis van Schie, COO of Sony Mobile, said: ‘UEFA Champions League is the pinnacle of club football and we’re excited to bring fans around the world extraordinary ways to enjoy and share their passion for the game. This prestigious global platform enables us to extend our reach to new audiences and provide them with truly engaging and immersive mobile experiences.’
