Telefónica’s ‘quintuple-play’ service launches in Spain

Telefónica has announced it will launch a quintuple-play service in Spain that offers home security.

The launch of ‘Movistar Verisure Hogar’ will offer a 24 hour, 365 day immediate emergency response service, unauthorised home access control and video cameras with remote controlling. Users will be able to manage the service through a smartphone app that will allow access to video footage.

The announcement sees Telefónica step into connected home technology, stating that the service will be offered to Movistar broadband customers ‘who want to make their home more connected and secure’. The service will utilise Movistar’s broadband connection alongside transmission systems provided by Sigfox. Telefónica, who are partnered with Sigfox, claim that ‘rigorous security’ will ensure that the transmission system will be ‘impossible to block’.

The security offering consists of central unit, a door sensor, a deterrent plate, two remote controls, a camera with remote recording and an inhibition detector. Users will be able to claim a free two week trail with the full service costing €25 a month.
