Lenovo announces Mobile Business Group senior leadership reshuffle

Lenovo has announced that Liu Jin will step down from his position as leader of the Mobile Business Group (MBG), following a senior leadership reshuffle.

Chen Xudong replaces Liu Jun as executive VP of MBG and chairman of Motorola Mobility, with Jun taking up a role as special consultant to the CEO on mobile business and strategy for ‘a certain period of time’. Xudong will step down from his role as CEO of ShenQi, Lenovo’s mobile brand created to rival Xiaomi, but will continue with the mobile company as co-chairman.

Lenovo stated that Jun ‘built the mobile business’ that begun 4 years ago and led the company to purchase Motorola Mobility from Google last year, becoming the third largest smartphone player.

The reshuffle comes as Lenovo reported an increase in mobile revenue from 12% to 25% year-on-year, with the company’s smartphone businesses with Motorola accounting for 41% of shipments, compared to 11% a year ago.
