A new service has been launched this week for people with low batteries on their mobiles.

BoxBrands, makers of public charging kiosks called Chargeboxes, have introduced a texting service to notify users where the nearest kiosk is located.

Users can text the word ‘Chargebox’ to 80010 followed by the town or postcode they are in to receive a listing where of the three closest kiosks are.

Chargeboxes let users charge their mobile phone for £1 in a secure locker. They can be found in over 70 locations, such as easyInternet cafes and Premier Travel Inns. Ipods, PSPs and BlackBerries can also be charged at the kiosks.
